Absolutely Love your channel. These videos have been a god send in getting me through my transition from sole trader to limited company. I'm finally starting to get my head around everything with your help. I currently own a kitchen and bathroom supply and installation company and have one or two questions if you were able to give some clarity or point me in the right direction? First off I'm looking at transferring assets such as tools and equipment from myself as a sole trader to the Ltd company. Now as its a new company I'm looking at doing this via a DLA but wondered if there was a formula or rule of thumb when it came to calculated the depreciation of assets? or is it a matter of attaining the current market value for each item online etc? secondly, its regarding Xero and the account for Dividends in the chart of accounts. I realise that there isn't currently a code and so one needs to be created and should be an "Equity" account. How can we show this in the profit and loss? is there a way? could this account be an "Expense" or "Overhead" Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Luke

I was a driver for BCA and we were forced into becoming driver /inspectors, paid an extra £8 for the inspection. We had a days training, which primarily addressed using the ipad provided. There is a lot of stress in potentially giving a customer a bill for £x thousands, especially if the customer has been very helpful, such us picking you up from a train station etc. I would say that your bill depends on your attitude to the inspector. EG your car, if you were pleasant etc you would have had no charge, if you werent and also the car had very little charge, I would have billed you for the damage and left you to argue with the lease company. The charges also vary between companies as well, some being very reasonable, others not so. Just bear in mind that the "inspectors" are poorly trained, underpaid drivers who just want to get going as quickly as possible.

You mentioned the lower cost of charging at home this of course will change as more EVs come on line and the government have to recover the loss of fuel tax and VAT I suggest home charging will be in line with public charging to level up the profits of suppliers who have invested in charging infrastructure

You could have done the research on the environmental noise before you put an offer in, going different times on the street can be done before your interest is put forward. A detached house in the countryside at that price isn't going to be an issue with neighbours I doubt.... I feel sorry for the others in the chain

Be liberal has that result. In Portugal all chargers are in the same network, with private chargers. We have to pay to connect to that network, but we can charge in any charger. Tesla are out of the network... Unfortunaly for all. You have to press your politics to change and support chargers.

I have no range anxiety , I fill up my car once every 3 weeks and get 900 kms for 120 bucks Canadian , Tesla does not provide warranty on the battery , also who ever buys a brand new vehicle ,EV or other has never heard of depreciation , one of the worst investments you could make, 50,000 euros is it , or Quid , thats pushing 100,000 Canadian , been driving since 1978 , never had a car fire , or bought a new vehicle , dont need the latest gadget , carry a gas generator around with you for this range anxiety ,

Petrol (gas) has a high amount of duty in the EU on it. For example in my country 70% of the price of petrol is duty. But I assume if too many people and businesses transit to ev-s, duty will be placed on electricity too. So the cheap home charging is not here to stay for long.

Hope, you won't scratch the battery one day. Then this is where all your savings will go. Petrol vehicles have no one single part which is as costly to replace as the battery of an EV. Mad stuff.

@4:58 - I think you might be wrong here. Having checked with our accountants and HMRC they say that Dividends paid by your ltd company DOES make up your income for this calculation so any divs paid to yourself needs adding to the total income. I’d be very happy if this isn’t the case so if you have references to confirm dividends aren’t included please post them as a reply to this comment.

i believed the Government when it said buy a diesel to save the planet. Buy an EV to save the planet, they fooled me once I wont be bitten twice.

I did that too for the same amount in 2021, took me 3 years just to get my money back then I took it out. Zero return in 3 years. Of course I could have made loads from it if I had been doing many trades but I was playing the long game, put it in & wait. In the end I got fed up with seeing no profit on the horizon at all.

EVs are garbage. They are not solving any problems in real terms, just creating them. That’s the truth of the matter. They’re all about optics for governments, and creating a perpetual need for consumers to have to purchase more expensive vehicles at shorter replacement intervals, due in large part to the built in obsolescence. Expensive glorified disposable cell phones on wheels. Perfect.

I'm getting an EV, I drive 28 miles a day for work. The longest trip I do is 150 miles. I have a drive so I can charge at home. My brother does the same daily mileage, but will do a more often 200 mile journey. He also is renting a house with no drive way. Just him not having a drive way means there's no way he should get an EV. It would cost him nearly 10 times more to charge. Plus all the difficulty of finding a charging. I'm getting a three year old Hyundai IONIQ, for £11k. Even if I had got it on finance it would be less than leasing a new one.

these kind of units with the air flow vent windows up.are usually useless in tropical hot countries it does not cool at all! you will need one that has it s louvre or air outlet below not on top also they consume lot of energy

Well this has aged in interesting ways: the Octopus standard rate is now at 25p, while your Gridserves and Instavolts will whack you at 89p per KwH. And at those rates, petrol is actually more economical. We just added a Mii electric to the household, and through the Summer it's charging off the roof, at basically zero cost (unless you amortize the sunk cost of the solar panels over 25 years, and subtract the FIT and any residual export). Still fulfilling the house needs plus the car though. It also means I'm not paying a thousand a year in petrol, so it is *amazingly* cheap to run. In the Winter i'll switch to the Octopus night rate, and be able to charge the car at 7p per KwH. Since it is getting around 5 miles per KwH, that comes in at less than 2p per mile. Petrol car is 14 or 15p per mile.

In the U.S. it is not uncommon to drive 500 to 700 miles in a day. The limited range of an EV is a huge issue.
